COPPA compliance
SolveWise complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Key protections:- Parental consent required — all student accounts are created by a parent or guardian. Children cannot create accounts independently.
- No PII in AI requests — only the problem text is sent to the AI provider. No name, age, grade, or identifying information is included.
- No advertising — SolveWise never serves ads of any kind, and never uses student data for advertising purposes.
- No data selling — SolveWise does not sell personal information to anyone, ever.
What data is collected
Parent account data
Email address, hashed password, full name, zip code, and birth month/year (to verify age — day of birth is not collected).Student profile data
First name (only), grade level, username, hashed password, and learning activity: problems attempted, solutions viewed, hints used, quiz scores, mastery scores, and session timestamps. SolveWise does not collect date of birth, age, email address, phone number, photo, or geolocation for students.Payment data
All payment processing is handled by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant). SolveWise never stores credit card numbers or full payment details.How your data is used

Data security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Each account can only access its own data — no cross-account visibility
- Secure session management protects your login
- Abuse prevention measures are in place to protect all accounts
Your rights as a parent
You can at any time:- Review the data collected about your child by signing in to the parent dashboard
- Correct any inaccurate data by updating the student profile
- Deactivate a student’s profile (preserves data, removes access)
- Permanently delete a student’s profile and all associated data from the parent dashboard
- Request full data deletion by emailing support@solvewise.org — processed within 30 days
If you close your account, all data is retained for 12 months to allow reactivation. After 12 months of inactivity with no active subscription, all data is permanently deleted.
